Cutty Sark Poster.

Slightly different layout with this one, I might change the yellow to the actual Cutty Sark yellow Pantone 130 as it seems more appropriate.

Don't Panic Cutty Sark Brief.

I found this while looking on a design blog so I thought I'd have a go.

The Brief:

Independent whisky brand Cutty Sark in collaboration with Don’t Panic is celebrating the work of independent London artists by launching an innovative, interactive online gallery as part of their new website. If you’re an artist and would like your work to be part of an exciting new online experience, plus the chance to win cash, some amazing exposure for your artwork in the media and a nice bit of Cutty Sark Whisky for yourself then here’s your chance to make it all happen.

We are looking for ten artworks based around the phrase “The Independent London Whisky” as the theme for their inspiration. Perhaps the work you produce from this can be an expression or portrayal of independent London, or maybe a visual interpretation of one of the many amazing stories from the history of Cutty Sark Whisky, which you can learn about here. We’re not looking for a straightforward print ad or campaign poster and your work can be rendered in any form you like, as long as its tone is positive and the art clearly reflects your take on The Independent London Whisky, Cutty Sark.

Don't Panic : Social Poster.

Decided to have a go at the new Don't Panic poster brief, using the word social. So I took on the idea of social networking sites focusing in on one in particular, Twitter. I chose that one as there is quite a good amount of visual imagery contained with Twitter, as it relates quite nicely to birds with the fact that the messages you send on twitter are called 'tweets'.So its sort of a modern take on carrier pigeons which was an old method of communication where the birds would fly away with a message.

Below are just a few layouts of my idea so far:
Not so sure on the layout above as you can't tell that the birds are flying out of a phone.

Plus its all good research for my dissertation too. Here's just a quick preview of the exhibition:

Learn Something Everyday.

Came across this website that illustrates somethings everyday like a fun fact. These are some from august:

Inglourious.

I love this movie poster the only thing is I didn't get who it was by.I think its the limited use of colour and the layout of the illustration that makes it work so well.

Tea revives you.

'Tea Revives You', a hand-pulled screen print inspired by a fantastic 1930's advertising slogan.

The slogan from bygone days has been revived by Lucas and Hayley as a simple yet (we think) wonderful piece of typography. Printed using robin red ink on soft off-white 100% recycled paper.

Whether you drink tea or not this print is ideal for any kitchen!

  • Hand pulled screen print
  • Robin red ink
  • Soft off-white 100% recycled paper
this is a lovely piece and i like the use of the tea cup as the counter in the 'A'

Home sweet Home.

This has to be one of the most interestingly printed editions which we've seen here at Keep Calm Gallery. Seb's wonderful typographic illustration has been screen printed by hand using white ink on mesmerizing Mirri paper!

Home Sweet Home, in Seb's words is "a timeless adage that I wanted to interpret in a stylish and modern way". We think he's done just that!

The fascinating Mirri paper changes colour depending on the angle you are viewing it from, and the lighting conditions. The effect is wonderful, you can see more angles and more colours by scrolling through the additional images above. Also click here to watch Seb's video showing the colours changing.

Brilliant use of stock!!!
